Butterfly children

A typical day for children age 0-2 years

Our typical day in Butterflies…

7.30am
Breakfast Time
Children who attend get a choice of healthy cereals or fruits with milk or water to drink.

8.00am
Free Play
Children choose from a variety of carpet toys selected by staff or free choice from our low level units.

9.00am
Nappy check time
Quality one to one time with staff who will engage in conversation and singing if nappy change is needed.

9.15am
Outdoor play/indoor play
If outside play is not suitable, physical activities will be planned for inside so every child is able to develop their physical development daily.

10.00am
Snack
Healthy gold award winning snacks and drinks with 4 weekly rolling menu.

10.30am
Nappy change/group Time
Group Time. A time for children to share through games and planned activities.

11.00am
Art time
A great opportunity to experience creative activities that encourage the children’s senses and interests through paint, gloop, water, custard, jelly and much more.

11.30am
Music and movement
Old and new favourite action songs, role modelled by staff encouraging the children to join in.

11.45am
Lunchtime
Lunchtime. A social time with peers and key people, a great opportunity to support health and self care skills.

12.30pm
Nappy Check/sleep/quiet time
Quiet time for the children to sleep and rest ready for their afternoon.

1.30pm Onwards
Waking up/nappy change
We follow parent’s wishes for length of sleep but all children are allowed to wake up calmly with reassurance and comfort from staff.

2.00pm
Group time
A time for children to share through games and planned activities.

2.15pm
Snack
Healthy gold award winning snacks and drinks with 4 weekly rolling menu.

2.45pm
Art activities
Creative activities that encourage the children’s senses and interests through paint, gloop, water, custard, jelly, etc.

3.30pm
Outdoor play/indoor play
Large physical activities – see saw, rocking horse, tunnel, slide etc. The weather doesn’t stop us having large equipment inside for children to explore.

4.00pm
Nappies
Quality one to one time with staff who will engage through conversation and singing with each child.

4.15pm
Afternoon tea
This afternoon tea is ample to see them through till bed time.

5.00pm – 6.00pm
Free play and choice for tomorrow
Older children are given opportunities to help tidy up and choose new activities for the next day encouraging self-care skills and independence.

Bottles to be given as and when required taking into consideration parent’s wishes.
